Emily believes that yoga is a way of life: a mindset that involves slowing down, breathing deeply, listening to our bodies, and being compassionate toward others and ourselves. Emily hopes that her yoga classes can be a safe space, free of judgment, comparison, or people-pleasing, where all can come as they are.

Emily’s first yoga experience was a sweaty mess. She left thinking, “That was supposed to be calming?!” A few years later, she began exploring restorative yoga and other slower-paced classes, enjoying it somewhat, but still holding a lot of tension.

After an injury, Emily realized that she hadn’t been speaking or acting compassionately toward herself, and decided to try showing love to her body and needs instead. A daily, at-home yoga practice soon took shape. Emily learned online from Jessamyn Stanley, whose anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, inclusive approach was a breath of fresh air.

Emily soon discovered that movement was to be a much larger focus in her life. She stepped back from a career as a primary classroom teacher to focus on creative pursuits and movement. Emily now teaches yoga to students of all ages, and teaches children in English and French outside of the traditional classroom environment. She is also a published author, an actor, a musician, and a wellness consultant. Emily loves doing voices, working out in group fitness classes, spending time in nature, and crafting.
