kids yoga camp specialist

Mackenzie first discovered yoga when she was 10 years old after learning about it from her school teacher. From then onwards she practiced yoga poses on and off. It was not until Mackenzie was 16 years old that she developed a consistent yoga practice in efforts to cope with stress. Shortly after her 18th birthday, Mackenzie completed her 200hr yoga teacher training where she was introduced to kids yoga and realized she would like to help those in need through the yoga practice.

Aside from yoga, Mackenzie has completed her Grade 10 piano practical exam for the Royal Conservatory of Music; furthering her music education by studying music at Capilano University. Along with piano, Mackenzie also has experience with bass, flute, guitar, and voice. She encourages interactive music in the yoga practice as she believes that it has emotional properties and benefits. To support this further, Mackenzie intends to obtain a Bachelors of Music Therapy which she can continue to use in enhancing her yoga journey with children.

Prior to teaching yoga, Mackenzie has worked in a variety of settings teaching children; whether that be through coaching soccer, teaching choral music, and even guiding children through meditation. Outside of yoga and music, Mackenzie loves to spend time outdoors whether it be hiking or swimming in lakes. She also enjoys experimenting with different recipes to create sustainable, plant-based recipes. Overall, Mackenzie encourages people of all ages, genders, races, sexual orientations, and abilities to try yoga; aiming to create a safe and welcoming place on the mat.
